Our curiosity for all things Disney is huge, and when a fairy godmother (in-training) reaches out to you for a special tour of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Harrods in London of all places, you take the London Underground to Knightsbridge Station and visit the 4th floor of the five acre luxury department store at your soonest opportunity. Honeymoon or not, we make room for Disney! If you don't know the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique its a Disneyland Salon owned by the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella. Young guests form ages 3 to 12 can get magically transformed into little princesses and knights, their choice. The boutiques can be found at the Disney parks and Disney hotels around the world. Thats what makes the one at Harrods so special, you don't have to travel to a Disneyland to experience the magic. We arrived at Harrods, perused the Disney Store, and then headed to the front desk of the Boutique. Of course it looks like a castle! We loved it, a castle entrance inside of a department store...only at Harrods! From the hanging banners, the stone walls, the stained glass windows and the the magic mirrors inviting young dreamers inside, the illusion was complete. We, of course, wanted a little history at the check-in desk before our special tour started. The boutique magically appeared in late 2013, early 2014. The Fairy Godmother wanted to drop a little Disney magic into the wonderful London Town so she waved her magic wand and presented the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for us to enjoy! There are different experiences that the children can sign up for, Royal, Castle, Crown, Knight, Courtyard, and Frozen. Each one is just as magical as another, it's only the pricing that varies. Money aside, and the fact we didn't bring our 12 year old knight with us, we were excited to see what was beyond the big oak door! Our Fairy Godmother (in-training) Rachel appeared and we were on our way! No sooner were we whisked through the doors and down a stone corridor than we came to a mirror. But of course there are no ordinary mirrors in Disney, all mirrors are magic! We, with a little guidance, took a magic wand from the wall, and in unison, recited the magic words. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo. The hall came alive with magical sounds and so did the mirror, and who was looking at us back from the mirror? Why the Fairy Godmother herself! The Fairy Godmother welcomed us with a big smile, a warm hello and after trying to remember where she put her wand, she gave us instructions. She explained exactly that we needed courage and if we showed a brave and honest heart the transformation to prince/princess would begin. With the introduction being done, we headed down the hall way, past the dungeons (we think it was the bathrooms) and to two big blue doors. We tried to open the doors and yet they were locked. How do we open them...well with magic of course! So we yelled out Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo again and the doors opened! When the doors opened we stood in awe of the coolest make over stations in the kingdom! At least eight vanities each one themed to a different Disney princess were available. It was awesome, and a blast to figure what decoration belonged to each princess! At a station thats where the Fairy Godmothers (in-training) would work their magic. This can consist of a outfit (the princess dresses here are one of a kind amazing), makeup, face paint, and prince/princess hairstyles. Rachel explained the process to us just as she would with the children and how at the end the little prince/princess was turned around in the chair to the mirror for the big reveal! It sounded so fun and we wanted to do it ourselves...ahem, I mean for when we have more kids. We headed to the next room, rather reluctantly, but we also wanted to know what was next! It just so happened it was the photo area in front of the pumpkin carriage and official throne! After an awesome photo session where the new prince/princess showed off their new style, they got to sit in a giant throne for more photos where a proclamation was read officially welcoming them to the kingdom! Can this get any better? From the pictures it was off to get all the goodies, the pictures on a disc, and time for the new prince/princess to head forth into the world and bring smiles to one and all! With the tour being over we hugged our Fairy Godmothers (in-training), they were wonderful and shall truly be missed. We were saddened by the news that the Boutique is closing it's castle gate and magically disappearing June 1st 2017, which made this tour even more special. You still have time if you want your child to experience all the magic at Harrods. Of course if you can't make it to London, the Disneyland Parks still have a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques as well. We always treasure the moments when we get the opportunity to do something unique and special. So with Disney merchandise in hand, a story in our heads and that warm feeling in our hearts we said the magic words and were off to our next adventure...
