The Adventure to Dapper Dan's Hair Cuts in Disneyland Paris

There is nothing in this world that can make a man feel like a man more than a haircut and shave from a professional barber. For the last few years I only visit my barber Mason Case at Harrison's in Piedmont, California. It's that early 20th century haircut, like what the movies let you imagine it would be. Mason even has the look of a 1900's barber with a this century flair. You just feel cool walking through the doors and sitting in his chair.

Mason is a fellow Disney-geek of course, and one day whilst in his chair Mason told us of his recent visit to  visit Disneyland Paris. In this mix of awesome stories he told us about Dapper Dans Hair Cuts on Main Street. Now I knew Disney World had a barber, but Disneyland Paris? This is awesome, what an adventure and I get a haircut out of it too! Unfortunately it was closed on his visit but I added it to the adventure list and vowed that if I visited DLP I would get a Dapper Dan hair cut and shave.

So as fate would have it, we headed to Europe for three weeks on our Honeymoon and Disneyland Paris was on the agenda. I did my research online to find the hours and to see if it was walk in or if you had to make an appointment. I was not missing my chance for an epic haircut and shave. I finally called the Disneyland Hotel in Paris and found out it was by appointment only and it had to be done at the park, but luckily Dapper Dan's was open on the days we would be there.

We arrived at Disneyland Paris on a Sunday and even though we knew Dapper Dan's was closed I was determined to check it out. Dapper Dan's is located right on Main St. and described on the Disneyland Paris website as "a living and breathing slice of small-town America in the booming early 1900s". We found it right away and asked in one of the stores how to set an appointment. We were told I didn't need one, so I just took a chance to arrive at the 10am opening on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, after enjoying two epic days exploring Disneyland Paris, I returned to Dapper Dan's and was in awe of the feeling of instantly being transported back in time. Everything was perfect! From the chairs, to the decor to the old ragtime piano music playing. The ambiance cemented the illusion of small town America.
I was welcomed inside by Domenico, the man who would cut my crazy mop. I explained that I wanted a haircut and a shave, I might as well go for the whole experience. He first set to work on my hair, cutting and trimming with precision. I could feel the weight of two months of hair disappearing and was happy to see the person staring back at me in the mirror. The shave was next. I moved chairs, leaned back as my face was lathered up. With the piano setting the mood in the background, Domenico  wielded the straight razor on my face as deftly as the scissors on my hair. My bearded face was slowly being shaved away and before I knew it, he was done.
I have to say, it was the experience, the overall magic of it all that made this adventure amazing! It was Disney magic! If you get a chance you should visit Domenico and say bonjour just for the atmosphere of "a living and breathing slice of small-town America". And of course now that we're home, and dealing with Disney withdrawals, i'll always remember the moment when I looked in the mirror at Dapper Dan's at Disneyland Paris and was thrilled with the outcome, I was a new man, a dapper man.
