Like the rest of the world here comes my first resolution of 2017; become a stay at home mom with the financial support of only Nicole Rose Crafts & Adventurers Outpost. Now, you might be asking yourself, what makes this goal important enough for me to ask you fine people to sit back and read my sob story. Allow me to bring y’all up to speed with a fun little trip down memory lane;
December 2013 - Mark and I met for our first date. January 2015 - We fell in love. September 2015 – We got engaged (beautiful proposal on the beach of the Aulani Resort). October 2016 - We got married!! December 2016 – I lost my job (cue Michael Bay style explosion sounds). What might come to some as the perfect opportunity to step back from their full time job, grow their side business, and get started with having kids already that just isn’t a reality for us. We are a family that requires the income of two working parents. This last month without my half of the income has been detrimental. This is not a cry for help, we’re smart and bills are paid, but Christmas presents went out the window, the upcoming trips we'd planned including Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend and our European Honeymoon in late February, family activities and anything else above the necessities are all in limbo. This got me to thinking, how many of us out there are in this position as well? Who else dreams of Disney-ing but can’t find the money to do it? So this brings this back around to my first resolution of 2017, being a stay at home mom. What's that have to do with this blog and my crafts? Well, seeing as how we are locked into our Annual Passholder contract for the next year (freshly renewed mid November on our family honeymoon – awesome timing right?) I have decided to turn lemons into lemonade and make it my goal this year to teach myself how to Disney on a budget and maybe along the way you could learn a thing or two about doing that with me. So that is it. My first goal of the year is to continue crafting not only physically but also by being crafty with our budget. I am determined this year to set us up for many adventures despite this set back. Over the next few days I will get my crafty on and report back to you with a solid money saving plan to Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend. Until then... -Nicole
